Affect vs Effect

Hi everyone, I’m still trying to hammer my way through this first draft, something that feels like attempting to deter a charging rhinoceros using a single baked bean, so I’m afraid today is a bit of a cop out post.

That said, this has tripped me up before and I think it’s something that’s tough to get right. Fortunately the esteemable Grammar Girl has the solution on when to use “affect’ and when to use “effect” right here. There’s a bonus XKCD comic in there too…

Tell me, what are the grammar mistakes you find yourself making? I might know the answer, or I may be able to simply grunt in sympathy.
